The Miami Marlins have sent starting centerfielder Marcell Ozuna to Triple A, the team announced Sunday

Ozuna, who has started 76 of Miami's 82 games this season, is mired in a terrible slump. Over the last four weeks, he is batting .167 with just three extra-base hits. His batting average had climbed as high as .289 last month but now sits at .249.

Shortly after the Marlins announced Ozuna was being sent down, outfielder Jordany Valdespin was pulled from his game at Triple A, making it likely that he is promoted to take Ozuna's spot on the roster.

The Marlins will now be without two thirds of their Opening Day outfield, as Giancarlo Stanton is expected to be out for three to five more weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone in his hand.
