Chicago White Sox pitcher Chris Sale saw his streak of games with at least 10 strikeouts snapped.
A ninth consecutive game with 10 or more batters fanned would have been a major-league record, breaking the mark set by Pedro Martinez in 1999.
Sale finished Monday's game with six strikeouts, allowing two runs on six hits as the White Sox won 4–2. Both runs Sale surrendered came on solo home runs.
Earlier on Monday, Sale was named to the American League All-Star team.
