New York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka will throw a bullpen session and could be ready to start by Monday or Tuesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reported Thursday.

Tanaka sustained a Grade 1 hamstring strain while running the bases Friday and missed his last scheduled start.

In 23 starts this season, Tanaka is 12–7 with a team-leading 3.38 ERA.

Ivan Nova replaced Tanaka in the lineup Wednesday, losing as the Yankees were shut out by the Toronto Blue Jays 4–0.

The Yankees currently sit three games behind the Blue Jays in the AL East standings.
