Rockies trade Corey Dickerson to Rays for Jake McGee
The Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to trade closer Jake McGee and minor-league pitcher German Marquez to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for outfielder Corey Dickerson and minor-league third baseman Kevin Padlo, the Rockies announced Thursday.
In three seasons with Colorado, Dickerson hit .299/.345/.534 with 39 home runs and 124 RBIs over 265 games. He led the Rockies with 24 home runs in 2014 but was limited to just 10 home runs and 65 games last season due to broken ribs suffered in June. The 26-year-old was primarily a leftfielder with the Rockies.

McGee, 29, missed the start of the 2015 season after undergoing surgery to remove a bone spur in his left elbow. He finished the year with six saves, 48 strikeouts and a 2.41 ERA in 37 1/3 innings. In 2014, the lefthander recorded 19 saves, 90 strikeouts and a 1.89 ERA in 71 1/3 innings. McGee is expected to earn $4.8 million this year and has one more year of arbitration remaining before becoming a free agent after the 2017 season.
Marquez, 20, went 7–13 with a 3.56 ERA in Class A Advanced last season. He currently ranks as the No. 25 prospect in the Rays minor league system.
Padlo, 19, was a fifth-round pick by the Rockies in 2014.
