San Diego Padres catcher Derek Norris left Thursday’s game against the Brewers with a hand contusion, the team announced

Norris suffered the injury after being hit on the hand by a pitch from Jimmy Nelson in the second inning. He initially stayed in the game, but was replaced by Christian Bethancourt in the bottom half of the inning.

An All-Star in 2014, Norris has played in 30 games this season, hitting .187 with two home runs and four RBIs.

If the injury is long term, the Padres would be left with Bethancourt as the only catcher currently on the team’s 25-man roster.
