Diamondbacks recall slugger O'Brien from Reno

PHOENIX (AP) The Arizona Diamondbacks have recalled slugger Peter O'Brien from Triple-A Reno and he is in the lineup for a game Friday night against Miami.

Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale says the young outfielder will play often over the next month to get ''a good sample size.''

The 25-year-old O'Brien leads the minor leagues with 17 home runs and 142 total bases. He hit .330 with 13 doubles and 52 RBIs in 52 games with the Aces.

O'Brien had a brief stint with the Diamondbacks this season, striking out as a pinch hitter in his only plate appearance.

To make room for O'Brien, Arizona optioned left-hander Edwin Escobar to Reno.
