Mariners acquire Drew Storen from Toronto for Joaquin Benoit

The Mariners have acquired pitcher Drew Storen from Toronto in exchange for pitcher Joaquin Benoit, the team announced Tuesday.

Storen, who was designated for assignment Sunday, has pitched in 38 games for the Blue Jays this season, recording three saves with a 6.21 ERA. Storen, 28, previously pitched in six seasons for the Nationals. 

A former closer, Storen has 98 saves and a 3.31 ERA in his career.

Benoit, 39, has a 5.18 ERA in 26 appearances for the Mariners so far this season. 

Seattle entered Tuesday in third place in the AL West, while Toronto entered two games out of first in the AL East.
