Indians’ Michael Brantley will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery
Indians outfielder Michael Brantley will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery, manager Terry Francona told reporters on Saturday.
Brantley, who had surgery on the same shoulder in November after tearing his labrum, played just 11 games this season. He experienced setbacks leading up to his season debut in April, and had to shut it down after quickly experiencing more discomfort.
The 29-year-old lefthanded hitter was an All-Star in 2014, hitting .327 with 20 home runs, 97 RBIs and 23 stolen bases, and came close to matching that production in 2015.
Cleveland’s goal is to have Brantley ready for the start of next season.
