Watch: Mets win on Asdrubal Cabrera’s 11th-inning walk-off homer

Friday September 23rd, 2016

One night after losing to the Braves on a would-be walk off home run by Yoenis Cespedes that was robbed at the fence, the playoff-chasing Mets managed to get it right on Thursday.

Asdrubal Cabrera gave the Mets an 11th-inning win with a three-run shot, salvaging a tight game that the bullpen nearly blew.

With New York down 8–6, the veteran shortstop took Edubray Ramos deep, driving in Michael Conforto and Jose Reyes to win the game.

The Mets used 10 different pitchers in the game, with Terry Collins leaning on closer Jeurys Familia for multiple innings for the second straight night and winning pitcher Jim Henderson walking in a run in the top of the final inning. Cabrera bailed out the bullpen for the 9–8 victory.

New York moves to 81–72 with the win, moving ahead of the Giants and Cardinals for a half-game lead in the race for two wild card spots. The Giants face the Padres on Thursday night in San Diego. St. Louis begins a three-game set in Chicago on Friday.
