Dodgers call up top prospect Cody Bellinger to help outfield

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) The Los Angeles Dodgers called up top prospect Cody Bellinger from Triple-A Oklahoma City to help their injury-laden outfield.

He was starting in left field and batting eighth for his major league debut against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night, and manager Dave Roberts said Bellinger will play the three remaining games at AT&T Park.

The son of former Yankees infielder Clay Bellinger, batted .343 with five home runs, four doubles and 15 RBIs with seven stolen bases in 18 games at Triple-A this year and was among the Pacific Coast League leaders in several offensive categories.

The 21-year-old was selected by the Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2013 amateur draft. He was promoted a day after the Giants brought up infielder and top prospect Christian Arroyo - also 21 - from the same draft class and inserted him into the starting lineup.
