Yankees, Red Sox Top Betting Board for 2019 World Series Odds

The Red Sox knocked out the Yankees 3-1 in last year's ALDS, but oddsmakers have New York as the overall favorite to win the World Series this upcoming season.

The Boston Red Sox were extremely impressive during their 2018 postseason run to another World Series title, losing just three of 14 playoff games and defeating three of the favorites to win this year's MLB championship along the way.

That dominance of baseball's best has the Red Sox among the favorites to repeat as well at +750 (bet $100 to win $750), with only the New York Yankees lower right now at +700 on the 2019 World Series odds.

Boston knocked out New York 3-1 in last year's American League Division Series before beating the Houston Astros 4-1 in the AL Championship Series and the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 in the World Series.

The Astros (+800) and Dodgers (+900) join the Red Sox and Yankees atop the betting board to win the World Series at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com in 2019 while top free agents Bryce Harper and Manny Machado have still yet to make their decisions on where they will play this season.

Whatever team(s) end up signing Harper and/or Machado also figure to be leading contenders unless one of the aforementioned favorites score one or both to improve their own odds at online betting sites. Regardless, the second tier of teams behind those four favorites include the Philadelphia Phillies (+1000), Chicago Cubs (+1200), St. Louis Cardinals (+1200), Milwaukee Brewers (+1400), Atlanta Braves, (+1600), New York Mets (+1600), Washington Nationals (+1600) and Cleveland Indians (+1600).

The Phillies have been linked to both Harper and Machado the most of any teams, which is the main reason they are right on the cusp of jumping into the title mix among the top four. If they were to sign either player, their odds would instantly improve and possibly even move them into the role of favorites to win the National League.

However, the race in the National League Central might be the most competitive of any division throughout the upcoming season between the Cubs, Cardinals and Brewers. Milwaukee broke through in 2018 to end Chicago's two-year reign atop the Central while St. Louis has still won the division more times (10) than both combined and added a key piece this offseason with the acquisition of first baseman Paul Goldschmidt.
