With spring training in full swing, teams are gearing up for the start of the 2019 MLB season, which inches closer and closer to a start.

Some clubs are still looking to improve their rosters while others are hoping star players can remain or get healthy ahead of Opening Day.

Here's the latest news and rumors around baseball:

• Yankees CF Aaron Hicks will begin the season on the injured list after receiving a second cortisone shot for his back injury on Sunday morning. Manager Aaron Boone said it is possible Hicks could return the second week of the season. (Bryan Hoch, MLB.com)

• The likelihood increased that the Yankees carry both first basemen Greg Bird and Luke Voit on their Opening Day roster, with one of them taking the spot that would have gone to Hicks. Bird and Voit are locked in a battle this spring to be the Yankees' starter at first, and Boone previously said only one would make the team. (Bryan Hoch, MLB.com
