Your Los Angeles Angels will kick off their 2023 season on March 30 against the Oakland Athletics. It is a very important year as they look to finally break their streak of missing the postseason and be taken serious as contenders.

Spring Training has given them a good amount of time to study the current veterans they have taking with the roster spots that were given to young prospects called up from the minor leagues. With multiple Angels players participating in the WBC, that meant more opportunity for those who stayed back with the franchise.

However, there are only so many spots on a final roster and Los Angeles announced today some players who spent the last month with them but will be starting off their season in the minor leagues.

"The #Angels have made the following transactions: Optioned: OF Jo Adell, OF Mickey Moniak & INF Andrew Velazquez Reassigned: OF Jordyn Adams, RHP Sam Bachman, RHP Ben Joyce, RHP Gerardo Reyes, C Chad Wallach, RHP Austin Warren & RHP Jacob Webb"

Jo Adell has served as an outfield for the team for about three seasons now and has posted .616 OPS and was inconsistent with his defense. His potential has been clear but he's never really unlocked it.

Mikey Moniak was the number one pick in the 2016 MLB draft and he was viewed as a generational talent. He hasn't necessarily panned out in the league so far as that and is most recently coming off of a 2022 season with the Phillies where he barely played due to a broken hand.

Despite numerous chances these past few years, the Angels still believe both of those guys need more polishing before they get another run in their big league roster,
