Former Angels Outfielder Announces Retirement After 14-Year Career

He had an incredible baseball career.

Longtime MLB outfielder Dexter Fowler officially announced his retirement from the game of baseball earlier this week. Fowler spent 14 seasons in the league, and ended his career as a member of the Angels. He made the retirement announcement via a post on Twitter.

"It's here. I'm hanging up my cleats," Fowler wrote in his retirement post. "Today is one of those moments where you metaphorically step down from your throne with a standing ovation, tip of the cap, and the world stops spinning. I'm mostly proud to look back at my career knowing that I played the game the right way and did my best to make a positive impact beyond the win."

Over the course of his 14-year career, Fowler hit .259 with 127 home runs and 517 RBIs. He played for the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and then, finally, the Angels. He appeared in seven games with the Halos in 2021, his final games in the major leagues.

Fowler was a one-time All-Star and one-time World Series Champion, and will be remembered for the quality outfielder he always was.

But, fortunately for fans, he won't be going very far. Fowler will be joining Marquee Sports Network as a studio analyst.

So if you're in the Chicago area, feel free to tune into pre- and postgame shows for the Cubs to see Fowler in action. Best of luck in retirement, Dexter!
