The Houston Astros have reportedly acquired first baseman Trey Mancini from the Baltimore Orioles, per Dan Connolly of The Athletic. The return has yet to be reported.

The Astros saw average play from Yuli Gurriel in June and July, but the addition of Mancini bolsters not only the first base position but also the corner outfield spots. Mancini is slashing .268/.347/.404 on the year with 13 outfield starts to his 27 at first base.

With Michael Brantley on the injured list, Mancini can extend to starts in left field as well as first base. The resurgent offense of Gurriel offers more lineup flexibility given the Astros' depth, but it does not rule out a trade for Josh Bell.
