Blue Jays fans have had to wait a while for George Springer, and they may have to wait a few days longer.

Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said Springer has an off-day Friday, but will play with the Bisons on Saturday.

"He will play in Trenton, either seven to nine innings, it depends how he feels, and then we go from there to the next step," Montoyo said.

Buffalo Bisons manager Casey Candaele said all lineup decisions and the length of the rehab assignment are decided by Springer, the Blue Jays, and Toronto's medical staff, but so far the outfielder's recovery has gone well.

“He looks really, really good," Candaele said. "And is moving really well.”

As of right now, it's very possible Springer's long-awaited return to the lineup comes Tuesday in the Blue Jays' series opener against the Miami Marlins.
