Atlanta Braves Looking to Heat Back up in June

We knew going in that May would be a rough month, but the Atlanta Braves survived and are now looking to heat up in June.

We knew going in that May would be a rough month, but the Atlanta Braves survived and are now looking to heat up in June. The Braves have gotten off to some slow starts the past few years and then really took off in the Summer months.

Last year at the end of May they were 23-27 and in 2021 they were 25-26.

This season they got off to a hot start and then sputtered at times in May, but still remain 10 games over .500.

The bats have been inconsistent at times leading to a lot of fan frustration, but typically all those hard-hit balls start flying out of the park more in the hot summer months.

While the Braves played a 21-game stretch in May against teams with postseason aspirations and good rosters, the schedule looks much more manageable in June.

They do start out with some tough tasks against the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Mets.

But then it's 16 straight games against teams with losing records, including the Nationals, Tigers, Rockies, Phillies, and Reds.

They finish the month with a tough series at home against the NL Central-leading Minnesota Twins and then a game against the Marlins.

As we just witnessed against the Oakland Athletics, you can't take any team lightly.

One of the frustrations from May is the team never seemed to play good baseball consistently regardless of the competition.

That was certainly the case for the second half of May where they went just 8-12.

A big key going into June is to start seeing this team put it all together on a more consistent basis.

Too many times in May they'd execute fine in all areas but one, and that one area would cost them the game -- whether it was the defense, lack of offense, or bullpen.

They were able to maintain and even add to their division lead despite the May struggles. But if they can finally put it all together in June they have a chance to really separate themselves in the NL East.
