Dominic Fletcher Called up, Option Anthony Misiewicz

In wake of the Corbin Carroll injury, Fletcher called up to give coverage for the D-backs outfield

Last night Corbin Carroll smashed into the left field wall trying to make a catch on a ball hit by Ryan McMahon. The team reported after the game it was a left knee contusion and he was day to day, but would not need imaging or have to go on the injured list.

It was first reported this morning by Zach Buchanan of the Athletic that Fletcher was being recalled from Triple-A Reno and later reported by Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic and Steve Gilbert of MLB.com that the corresponding move was optioning left-handed reliever Anthony Misiewicz

The full extent of the diagnosis of Carroll's injury is still unknown at this time. This story will be updated as soon as we have more information.  But already knowing he's at least day to day, this move gives the D-backs more options.

Fletcher is a 25-year-old left-handed hitting outfielder that was taken by the D-backs with the 75th pick overall in the 2019 draft. He is rated as the 14th best prospect on the D-backs Top 30 List.  He has a strong defensive reputation and has been a good hitter for average throughout minor league career with a .298  batting average. He has some pop, hitting for 57 extra base hits last year including 12 homers. He is off to an excellent start this year for Reno, batting  .323/.417/.559, .976 OPS. He has 12 extra base hits in 109 plate appearances. His 135 wRC+ means he is hitting about 35% better than the league average batter in the Pacific Coast League.

This is Fletcher's first call up to the major leagues. It's not known at this time how long Carroll will be out. The team has an off-day tomorrow and then goes to Texas to play two games against the Rangers before another off day and travel home.
