The Dodgers just keep giving us good news regarding the status of superstar first baseman Freddie Freeman. On Thursday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke to the media, and said that Freeman — who left Canada's WBC game on Tuesday with hamstring tightness — was continuing to progress, and should be back in the lineup this weekend.

Roberts said that Freeman will play on Saturday as the team's designated hitter, before getting back to his normal first base spot on Sunday (per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register).

Dodgers fans have to be very relieved about Freeman's injury, as hamstrings are always something that could be worrisome.

On Wednesday, Freeman said he felt tightness in the hamstring, and knew it wasn't a cramp when it persisted. He decided to take himself out of the game, knowing Opening Day was just 15 days away. Here's a great video from Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation on the injury:

It's great to hear that Freeman is okay, and that this injury won't sideline him for very long. The last thing this Dodgers team needed was another long-term injury to a key member of the team, so fortunately, Freeman's situation didn't turn out worse.

With Opening Day less than two weeks away, the Dodgers will hope that the injury bug of spring is officially behind them, and they can just focus on having a positive 2023 season.
