The plan for Julio Urias to throw off a mound in Tampa Bay over the weekend had to be scrapped. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shared on Saturday that the left-hander experienced discomfort in his injured left hamstring during long toss on Friday. With the setback, Urias won't be activated off the injured list for his projected start against the Yankees.

Here's more from Roberts.

“Yesterday he tried to kind of add a little bit of intensity and felt a little bit of soreness. So today he kind of stepped on it, felt good coming out of it. I’m probably going to digress a little bit and kind of the expectation for next week. ... I'm hesitant to even put any timeline on it. I think it's fair to say that Tuesday a pen and then the ensuing days he'll throw a live at some point and we'll see how he comes out of each of those. ... It’s safe to say that we’re just going to make sure that he’s 100% ready before he takes the mound again.”

Urias felt no residual soreness on Saturday and will hopefully be able to throw his bullpen session on Tuesday then progress to facing hitters before potentially rejoining the rotation as soon as the Dodgers' next road trip.

Although the setback prolongs Urias' absence, it might actually benefit the struggling left-hander who has a 4.39 ERA over 9 starts. He's allowed 14 home runs this season.

Rookie Bobby Miller will remain in the rotation with Julio sidelined and will now make a start against the New York Yankees at Dodger Stadium next weekend.
