After a long wait, Bobby Miller's 2023 season is underway. The heralded Dodgers pitching prospect made his season debut on Saturday in Oklahoma City after missing the first few weeks of the year after reporting to spring training with a sore right shoulder.

To say he was amped to get going would be an understatement. He threw absolute gas in the first inning with 8 of his 14 first inning pitches hitting 100 MPH and above.

He struck out the first batter he faced on 5 pitches.

Miller ultimately tossed 3.1 innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 run while throwing 55 pitches. He struck out 2 and walked 1. And, importantly, the OKC Dodgers defeated the Sacramento River Cats on a final of 5-1. The win is even sweeter considering the River Cats are an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.

What Has Bobby Miller Been Up To?

The hard throwing right-hander came into 2023 in the best shape of his life. He told DodgersNation.com during spring training that he worked on losing some weight in the offseason, which was part of his winter homework from the organization.

“I’ve seen the most gains in my conditioning so far. I really upped that this year, lost some weight coming into this year — that was kind of planned — so making sure I’m losing while maintaining that strength, which I have. I feel like I’m moving quicker, my body is moving better and I’m maintaining the same strength, too.”
