Bauer Power Paces the Indians in Second Straight Over Yankees 7-2; Three Takeaways From the Win

CLEVELAND - Friday night the Cleveland Indians continued their four-game series against the New York Yankees and picked up right where they left on from Thursday with a strong 7-2 victory.

The win came from great pitching by Trevor Bauer, clutch hits, and great defense. With the win, the Indians push their mark to 59-48.

Here are the three takeaways from Friday's huge win in front of a sold out crowd.

1. Bauer Was Dealing

Whatever Trevor Bauer has been doing in his last three outings, it's working.

The right-hander didn't think about his career numbers against the New York Yankees, as he went seven strong innings, giving up seven hits with just one run and striking out seven.

With the win, Bauer improves to 10-8 on the season.

The highlight of the night was in the fifth inning by striking out Gary Sanchez leaving the bases loaded, which was a key moment in the five-run win.

The inning could have been a lot worse if it wasn't for Giovanny Urshela's game-saving play at third, however, Bauer escaped the jam allowing only one run on three hits.

2. Giovanny Urshela's Glove Saves the Day

The Indians third baseman made two great plays, one of which is believed to be the game saver. In the fifth inning leaping towards foul territory with one out, he had a choice to either go home or go to second to attempt a double play once he had the ball.

Giovanny chose to go home and catcher Roberto Perez tagged Ronald Torreyes out at the plate. It was yet another amazing play by Gio, who is quickly making highlight reels from the hot corner.

1. Capitalizing off of Yankees Struggles on Defense

The Yankees have had struggles on defense recently, committing three errors in the first inning on Thursday and yet another error Friday which allowed a run and also recorded two wild pitches to add to the damage.

One of the wild pitches allowed Indians outfielder Austin Jackson to score to get things started in the second inning.

In the third, Brandon Guyer came home off a Michael Brantley single thanks to Aaron Judge's overthrow that ended up in the stands.

Taking advantage of Yankee mistakes and playing heads-up baseball have been key in the Tribe winning the last two meetings with the Bronx Bombers.
