Carrasco and JRam Combine to Top the O's as Indians Beat Baltimore 2-1; Three Takeaways

CLEVELAND - After going 5-1 on the road against the Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds, the Indians Friday night welcomed the Baltimore Orioles to town for a quick three-game homestand.

With bats being efficient and decent pitching, the Tribe did enough to win game one with a final score of 2-1 to earn a little "Respect," paying their respects to the late Aretha Franklin, who passed away on Thursday.

The win puts the Tribe at 70-51 on the season, and with the way Carlos Carrasco is pitching and Jose Ramriez is hitting, this team is on a roll right now.

Here's three takeaways from the win.

1. Two runs will do

With the Tribe winning 2-0 today, the team improves to 19 games over .500, and they have won now six straight and 8 of their last 10.

The fireworks started in the first inning when Jose Ramirez his 37th homer of the year.

With his home run, he now tied with Red Sox Designated Hitter J.D. Martinez. Though, the Indians had some chances to put more runs on the board.

Seemingly, Baltimore pitching calmed down only gave up six hits. Indians left six on base. Baltimore only used one reliever. Miguel Castro pitched two innings.

3. Just Enough from the Pen

First, Andrew Miller came in the eighth inning walked the first batter. He was able to retire the next two hitters before Adam Cimber came in.

Cimber gave up an RBI single to Trey Mancini to cut the lead to 2-1.

Closer Cody Allen pitched the ninth. Walked a batter on one out. Allen got his 24th save of the year on a pop out and striking out Joey Rickard to end the game.
