CLEVELAND - Indians starter Mike Clevinger threw five innings today before being pulled from the game with upper back tightness according to the team.
Clevinger threw 75 pitches and struck out 10 Blue Jays before being pulled.
"The hope is (why Clevinger was pulled) was an overreaction on our part," Indians manager Terry Francona said after the game.
"We're going to get him worked up tomorrow, just because, when a guy has a bunch of adrenaline going, when he wakes up tomorrow morning, we just don't want to guess."
On the day Clevinger struck out 10 Jays batters during the eventual Indians 3-1 win. Neil Ramirez started the sixth and struck out the side in order.
Brad Hand got his sixth save of the season, earning a five-out save with a big double play in the 8th inning.
