Refsnyder won’t make Opening Day roster; Guyer will reportedly fill final spot

GOODYEAR, Ariz.— Rob Refsnyder has been informed he will not make the Cleveland Indians Opening Day roster.

The move appears to signal that Brandon Guyer will fill the final roster spot, but as Jordan Bastian reported, things are still technically unofficial. In fairness to Refsnyder, however, the team didn’t want to string him along and make it more difficult for him to find a job, considering he is out of options.

Guyer has been dealing with a wrist injury since the end of last season, and had surgery during the offseason. He hit a setback earlier in spring training in his rehab, but played in a Cactus League game on Saturday and has seen some minor league action as well.

"The wrist feels good," Guyer told

Last season for Cleveland, Guyer posted a .236/.326/.327 slash line in 70 games.
