Padres: Matt Carpenter Shares an Update on the Status of His Mustache

Former All-Star confirms iconic look will stay... for now.

When we think of some of the most iconic mustaches in MLB history, names like Keith Hernandez, John Axford, and Rollie Fingers immediately come to mind. Especially in a sport like baseball where one's hair is usually covered by a helmet or a cap, facial hair on a player will always stand out.

One individual who is well on their way to joining this exclusive club is Padre's newest infielder Matt Carpenter. The veteran has been rocking the mustache for some time now after opting to switch up his full-bearded look. He had one of his best seasons with the Yankees last season and quickly became an icon among fans with his unique style.

Aside from baseball-related questions and whether he believes he has more left in the tank, Carpenter was also asked by media at Spring Training what inspired him to grow out his mustache and if he will keep it this season.

"It worked well last year and I'm going to ride that, see how it plays out this year," said Carpenter. "My wife is a fan of it and my kids love it".

If he has superstition on his side and his family is in full support, Padres fans will likely follow the movement and accept Carpenter's mustache along with him. If he is able to continue the record-breaking slugging that he had going on last season, it will be a match made in heaven.
