Former two-time All-Star Julio Teheran has opted out of his contract with the Padres. MLB insider Jon Heyman was the first to report.

Teheran signed a minor league deal with the Padres in early February and has been with their triple-A affiliate since. As Heyman reported, there is a chance the 32-year-old righty could end up re-signing, but we'll see how that plays out.

The former All-Star last pitched in majors in 2021 with the Detroit Tigers but spent the majority of his time with the Atlanta Braves. He earned All-Star bids in 2014 and 2016, is 78-77 overall with a 3.80 ERA, and has started in 236 out of 240 games.

With the El Paso Chihuahuas, Julio was 2-2, was a 6.84 ERA, and had 29 strikeouts in five games and 25 innings pitched. We'll see if the former All-Star cane be brought back, and if he's not, we wish this Padre legend the best.
