Multiple Philadelphia Phillies Make Top 25 Free Agent List for 2023 Offseason

Multiple Philadelphia Phillies players are among the the most highly coveted pending free agents for the upcoming MLB offseason.

The Philadelphia Phillies have two players in The Athletic’s ranking of the Top 25 free agents for the 2023 offseason.

Los Angeles Angels pitcher and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is No. 1.

For the Phillies, right-handed pitcher Aaron Nola is No. 3 and first baseman Rhys Hoskins is No. 22.

Nola, 30, is the third-highest ranked pitcher on the list behind Ohtani and Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Julio Urías.

Nola is making $16 million this season. He’s 4-3 with a 4.31 ERA so far this season. But for his career he is 82-65 with a 3.64 ERA, along with one All-Star Game appearance. He’s been in the top seven of National League Cy Young voting three times, including 2022, even though he went 11-13.

The Phillies did try to extend Nola in the spring but the two parties were unable to reach an agreement.

Hoskins, 30, is coming off a 30-home run season for the Phillies in 2022, when they reached the World Series. But Hoskins is out for the season after tearing his ACL in Spring Training. He’ll have to prove to teams that he’s good to go, healthwise, next season.

Hoskins is a career .242 hitter with 148 home runs and 405 RBI.
