Wednesday Game Recap: What a Dahl, David Unloads Grand Slam In Rocks Win
David Dahl is turning into what was advertised back when the Rockies made him the 10th player selected in the 2012 draft. After battling a bizzare string of injuries earlier in his career, Dahl is proving to be an impact player for the Rockies this year. He certainly left his mark on the Giants in the Rockies 6-3 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Oracle Park.
Dahl unloaded the second grand slam of his career in the third inning, becoming the first Rockies player to hit a grand slam in San Francisco, and joining DJ LeMahieu as the only Rockies with five RBI in a game in San Francisco.
And for the Rockies, a big series in the Bay Area is a big deal. The Rockies won a series at the Giants ballpark for only the second time in their last 10 series. And all time, they ahve a .378 winning percentage, fifth worst among the 14 current NL ballparks they visit
At the Plate
Dahl has 26 RBI in June, second most in the majors. Two other Rockies rank in the top 10 in the National League in RBI during the month -- Ian Desmond is tied for seventh at 19, and Charlie Blackmon is tied for 10th with 18.
On the Mound
Rockies right-hander German Marquez has worked at leat five innings in each of his 17 starts this season. He leads NL pitchers in innings pitched and is second in MLB in innings pitched.
