The Yankees have made a move to bolster their catching depth that has become thin due to the injury bug.

New York has signed Nick Ciuffo to a minor league deal.

The 28-year-old has accumulated 21 big-league games for the Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles between 2018 and 2021.

Ciuffo is considered to be a solid defender behind the plate, but has slashed an anemic .188/.259/.292 in the major leagues.

Last season, Ciuffo played for the Chicago White Sox Triple-A team.

With Ben Rortvedt, Josh Breaux and Austin Wells dealing with injuries, and Kyle Higashioka participating in the World Baseball Classic, the Yankees needed another body at the catching position in camp. They will now get just that with the signing of Ciuffo.

The Yankees also have the ability to keep Ciuffo around as depth given his slew of options and less than one year of service time.
