When Yankees' Luis Severino's Rehab Assignment Will Start

Find out when Luis Severino's rehab assignment will begin.

He's trending in the right direction.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Saturday that Luis Severino's sim game in Tampa went well.

The next step for Severino is a rehab assignment, which will likely begin on Wednesday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Severino, who has been out since the end of Spring Training with a lat strain, will likely need several rehab starts before he is ready to rejoin the Yankees' rotation.

Severino is a key piece for a Yankees rotation that has been riddled by injuries so far in this young season.

In addition to Severino, the Yankees are without starting pitchers Carlos Rodon (back) and Frankie Montas (shoulder surgery).

While Montas is out until late in the season, Rodon's timeline is unclear as he had endured a lingering back issue that required a cortisone shot.

The good news is that Severino is on the right track and only a few weeks away from returning, as long as all goes well on his rehab assignment.
