There’s always pressure for the first pick in the NFL draft. For Jared Goff, the pressure could be even more literal: the Rams don’t have a great offensive line or receivers. Third-and-long situations could make Goff harken back to his freshman days at Cal, when he was sacked 30 times and hit countless more. Remember, though, Goff grew from that experience, which is why it will be easier for coach Jeff Fisher to eventually throw him to the wolves as a rookie (which, considering Case Keenum’s Week 1 performance, could be sooner rather than later). And when he does, the nation’s second largest market and its football-parched citizens will be watching, reacting and applying even more pressure.
