Love And Football

BYU's perkiness is creepy. :: Bill Frakes/SI : Boyd Ivey/Icon SMI

As The Love of Sports points out, BYU fans are out of control. Nowhere else will you find football devotees like these crazy Cougars. Picture this: cordial and rabid ... all in one. To give you an idea, fans aren't required to go through metal detectors upon entering the stadium. The enemy is NEVER referred to as "the bad guys" and, in fact, "the opposition" is NEVER ridiculed. But the most bizarre thing: NO CURSING! Is that even possible?

Chuck Gets Defensive

After seven seasons with the Wolfpack, former NC State coach, Chuck Amato, said the team had just scratched the surface of what it could have accomplished under him before he was fired after the 2006 season. Amato, who closed his Wolfpack tenure with a 49-37 record, said he "knew what was wrong with the team in 2006 but didn't want to fix it in the middle of the season." So, as we see it, the man's future in N.C. could have gone two ways: (A) he could have remained as coach and maybe have led the Wolfpack to the halfway point of its full potential by the year 2013, or (B) he could let the Wolfpack play poorly for the remainder of the '06 season so as to guarantee that he canned. Amato chose B. Well played.

Frat Foul

If you were ever contemplating, or even hesitant about, joining a fraternity, this should help you make up your mind. Wowwwwww.

Pimpin' Puppies

Guys only wish they had as much game as these munchkins. :: Getty Images

According to a new research study -- a highly important research study -- we now know the latest in puppy behavior. It appears boy puppies have more game than college males. Or maybe just human males in general. Take note, guys.

Top Of The Bottom

Poor Michigan. It'll never be able to live down the Appalachian State fiasco. And thanks to Campus Squeeze, the Wolverines' pain may have just gotten that much worse as they top the list of the 14 biggest upsets in college football history. No. 1 never looked so bad.

Reminder: We're Not That Cool

Thanks to some loyal European readers at College OTR, we've come to realize that not everyone thinks American universities are all that and a bag of chips. In fact, we don't "equal the world," and the U.S. "could do with a little bit more perspective" and "a little less self-obsession." One American's response provides a lucid, well-thought out, intelligent rebuttle to the claim.

Kansas Faker

Mark Mangino pretends to appear upset by Kansas students' profane chants (the ones noted in Thursday's clicks), though we all know he couldn't care less. The Jayhawks are 5-1 and just routed Colorado 30-14 this past weekend. Yeah, Mangino's really torn up about his cursing Jayhawks.
