Cowboys' Brooking: Vikings 'classless'
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking called the Vikings "classless" as Minnesota ran up the score against the Cowboys in a 34-3 loss on Sunday. Brett Favre's 11-yard touchdown to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe with 1:55 to play prompted Brooking to follow Favre to the sideline and yell at Vikings coach Brad Childress. Already up 27-3, the Cowboys felt the Vikings ran the score up at their expense. "I thought it was totally classless and disrespectful," Brooking said. "This is the NFL, that's not what this is about. I don't think there's a place for that ... I was looking for Childress. I didn't think it was right." (Dallas Morning News)Comment
No one seems willing to put aside the flap between the Mets and Carlos Beltran following the center fielder's arthroscopic surgery last week. Yesterday, Beltran's agent, Scott Boras, said he wanted to "define the process." "This is an internal issue (for the Mets)," Boras said. "Carlos Beltran was not at fault. He followed the orders of the Met doctor, who told (Beltran's doctor) to go ahead with the surgery (Wednesday morning)." Boras noted that Beltran had called Omar Minaya on Tuesday night to tell him about the surgery, and Minaya did not put the brakes on the operation. (New York Daily News)Comment
Hughes-D'Antoni feud heating up
The Larry Hughes-Mike D'Antoni feud got more bizarre yesterday as Hughes missed at least the final stages of the Knicks' practice -- while there was mystery as to whether he practiced at all. When two reporters and a camera crew were let into the Westchester gym an hour into practice, Hughes -- furious he's been dropped from the rotation -- was nowhere to be found. All the Knicks were on the court, doing their shooting, except for Hughes and injured Eddy Curry. The team remained shooting for another 35 minutes. A Knicks spokesman claimed Hughes left the court to take a "bathroom break" but that he never returned to rejoin his teammates. (New York Post)Comment
