Woods needs no Masters tune-up
If you want to keep your money, don't bet against Tiger Woods. Conventional wisdom says he should have a tune-up tournament before arriving at Augusta National. Conventional wisdom says he should get the first press conference, the first public appearance, the first exposure to a gallery and the first competitive swings out of the way at, say, Bay Hill, before playing in the year's first major. But there's really never been anything conventional about Woods when it comes to playing golf. So like a boxing champion refusing a tune-up fight after a long layoff, Woods has decided to go straight to the heavyweight battle: The Masters. (New York Post)Comment
Bruins fans screaming for vengeance
Tonight at TD Garden, the Bruins can do something the NHL did not: hold Penguins left wing Matt Cooke accountable for the concussion he gave Marc Savard with a blow to the head 11 days ago. "Savvy's not doing any better," coach Claude Julien said Tuesday about the Bruins center, whose symptoms include headaches, nausea, and sensitivity to light. Cooke should play tonight, as Savard's teammates, with full approval from the Bruins faithful, seek to address the issue. "We play Pittsburgh again?" Bruins vice president Cam Neely asked with a laugh. "I'm not going to get into what our fans expect. But part of what this game is all about is taking responsibility for the actions that we do. Simulation crowns Baylor NCAA kings
If you're looking for easy money this March, go with the Baylor Bears. That's according to Paul Bessire, a veteran of sports simulation site Whatifsports.com. Bessire has started PredictionMachine.com. Bessire says he has run every possible matchup in the NCAA tournament 50,000 times through what he calls his Predictalator, which uses season stats to guide the program. Baylor is his champion.
