Bills could eye Clausen in draft

The Bills are coming off a weekend in which they met with Jimmy Clausen, and Buffalo may not be opposed to adding another arm to the race for QB. Head coach Chan Gailey said at the NFL owners meetings that there would be an open competition between Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Brohm. But Gailey also hinted there could be a fourth QB added to the mix. The Bills' reported interest in Donovan McNabb would suggest that they'd like an upgrade over the quarterbacks currently on the roster. "I'm loyal to the players, but not loyal to the point where if I think something is better for the organization, we're going to go that direction," Gailey said. Clausen met with the Bills at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. General Manager Buddy Nix attended Notre Dame's Pro Day on Friday to watch Clausen, who visited One Bills Drive on Saturday. Sources: LeBron leaning toward staying

The media's winding road while following LeBron James hit a new milepost over the weekend. After being mostly neutral and downright noncommittal for some time, those closest to James have been altering their view recently. The vibe being sent out from James' camp -- whether it is private conversations or discussions about new business or plans for the near future -- is that James currently is leaning strongly toward re-signing with the Cavs. That may sound vague and, as always, it continues to be fragile. Yet there is no denying the gradual shift within James' circle and, it is assumed, by James himself. James has declined to talk publicly about free agency since November. But as one source said, "I have never been so sure that he's going to stay in Cleveland than I am right now." (Cleveland Plain Dealer)Comment

Can a better menu help the Cubs?

The confines get a little friendlier in 2010, as the Cubs will find upgrades at Wrigley to the weight room, clubhouse kitchen and players' lounge, while a team nutritionist will try to keep soda and junk food off the menu. So what competitive edge might the Cubs expect from all the amenities and specialty personnel? "[The ballpark upgrades] make it a much more pleasant experience for our fans [and players], but you win on the field," said manager Lou Piniella, who hasn't seen much of that in six road games so far. The dietitian doesn't get any base hits," he said. "The psychiatrist -- I haven't seen him hit a two-run homer yet. But he can help." (Chicago Sun-Times)Comment
