Bengals brass not sold on Pacman
Cincinnati's courtship of Adam Jones is winding to its official conclusion. The decision to bring Pacman in was not well received throughout the Bengals organization, though. According to an ESPN report, the decision was "hardly unanimous" inside the front office, and it wasn't a "slam dunk" among the coaches either. Yes, the Orioles have yet to win 10 games, but that's OK (sort of) by Andy MacPhail. If you're a fan, you've got to be wondering how MacPhail can deny that "The Plan" is on life-support, but the architect of this currently sputtering rebuilding program isn't backing down in the face of the mounting losses and dwindling attendance. "No, I am as convinced now as I've ever been that it's the only course that can get us back in a position to be a contending team," he said from Minnesota this weekend. "This start has not changed my attitude at all. I'm disappointed in how we're playing, but I believe by the end we'll have a better record than we had last year." (The Baltimore Sun)Comment
Last night's loss to San Jose may have been the final NHL game in Nicklas Lidstrom's illustrious NHL career. Certainly, this season showed that Lidstrom still has the skill and stamina to be one of the best in the game (he played over 25 minutes last night). But Lidstrom recently turned 40, and he chose not to negotiate a contract extension during the season. The writing on the wall points to retirement, but Lidstrom is simply saying he will take some time to think his future over. Henrik Zetterberg, for one, said he and his teammates would resort to praying for Lidstrom's return, if needed. (Detroit Free-Press)Comment
