Heat coach Spoelstra to Golden State?
Would family ties be enough to land Erik Spoelstra at the newly purchased Warriors? It certainly is possible. Mandalay Entertainment CEO Peter Guber and Menlo Park businessman Joe Lacob have reached an agreement in principle to purchase the Warriors from Chris Cohan for approximately $450 million. Now, take a look at the hierarchy of the Mandalay Group, and you'll see an interesting name near the top: Jon Spoelstra, vice chairman of marketing for baseball properties. That would be Erik Spoelstra's father. Erik Spoelstra is currently the head coach of the Miami Heat, but there have been indications that president Pat Riley is interested in moving to the bench -- particularly after Miami signed LeBron James and Chris Bosh and re-signed Dwyane Wade recently. Warriors current head coach Don Nelson has one more year remaining on his contract, but it is possible -- and some say likely -- that he will not begin the year as head coach of the Warriors. Divorce saga crippling Dodgers
MLB's quietest day didn't go without news from the courtroom. Wednesday was a dead day on the field in baseball, but it was a busy day in the ongoing divorce saga that has crippled the Dodgers. ESPN.com posted an article from the forthcoming issue of the Worldwide Leader's magazine detailing just about everything you'd ever want to know about Frank and Jamie McCourt, including the fact that the team has spent less money on the draft and international scouting than anybody else, while the Los Angeles judge overseeing the divorce case suggested that the couple sell the team to settle their squabbles about who gets control of it. Unga no lock to make Bears roster
After taking Harvey Unga in Thursday's supplemental draft, the Bears have quite the crowd challenging for roster spots, a cast that includes Matt Forte, Chester Taylor, Kahlil Bell, Garrett Wolfe and Brandon Minor. Knowing all those players were already in Chicago, Unga didn't expect the Bears to pick him. "To be honest, I was surprised," Unga told the Chicago Sun-Times. "They're stacked up with running backs right now. They don't need another back. I'm just going to come in there and bust my butt and make the best of the situation. I told them this is something they won't regret and I'm a man of my word." That crowded running back depth chart means Unga is no lock to make the 53-man roster. (Profootballtalk.com)Comment
