Beginning this month, the basketball worlds will feature a Team USA short on riches. The average 2009-10 NBA salary for the 15 players now on the roster is about $5.8 million, just 30% above the average annual salary of all NBA players. There's never been a gap that small in the eight other major international events that featured NBA stars. The next-cheapest team was in 2002, when the average salary was 56% above the league average. That team came in sixth place. [Monday] morning's back-to-work-after-the-scrimmage practice at SUNY Cortland was just another day at the office for rookie CB Kyle Wilson, starter for the New York Jets. "Yeah, I was still with the ones this morning," Wilson said of lining up at right corner with the first defense. "They kind of tell me as they go over it each day. You just find out daily. But any time I'm out there, everything's the same for me. I get out there and try to compete and make plays, whatever group I'm in." Report: Forsberg contemplating NHL comeback
This might be starting to sound like Brett Favre's is-he-or-isn't-he retirement saga but rumblings have started that Peter Forsberg could again be contemplating an NHL comeback. According to a report in the Denver Post, Forsberg is mulling over whether he wants to return to the NHL for the first time since a nine-game stint with the Colorado Avalanche in 2007-08. Forsberg has played just 26 games over the last two seasons with Modo of the Swedish league due to recurring foot problems. (Toronto Sun)Comment
