A greater irony would be Ozzie Guillen going harder on his son, Oney, who has used Twitter for "harsh comments" about the White Sox. "(But) Oney's not part of this organization," Guillen said Wednesday. "Oney says whatever he wants. The thing is, coming from him it looks bad." Some of his Tweets include comments about Sox general manager Ken Williams, but Guillen said his son is just a passionate fan who won't get the manager in trouble. ... "I think it's disrespectful, but I'm a public figure and you can't have it both ways," Williams said. "You can't have (just) the benefits of being a public figure. It has been a long time since I've had to wait too long for a table, for instance, at a restaurant in Chicago." (Chicago Tribune)Comment
In the shadow of a certain No. 4's retirement, his replacement has thrived, but some may be surprised to hear the extent. Through 32 starts, Aaron Rodgers is off to the best beginning to a career of any quarterback in NFL history, as measured by one of the position's most important stats -- touchdown passes per interception (2.9). After this small sample of games, he also ranks as the sport's all-time leader in interception rate (1.8% of pass attempts) and career QB rating (97.2). It's clear the Packers correctly sensed Mr. Rodgers was a star in the making when they ended his role as understudy to Brett Favre the minute Mr. Favre began his now annual retirement ritual. Free to fly in New York, Stoudemire will miss the presence of Steve Nash in his backcourt ... until he realizes that he's probably the best pure paint scorer this league has, and that he can drop 25 points with or without the expertly placed pass.
