Today is a great day for Philadelphia. As the Yankees and Rangers waged a public war for free agent Cliff Lee, the Phillies went stealth and signed the former Cy Young winner to a five-year deal. And if that's not all, I did a search of famous Philadelphians and discovered that the lovely Kelly Monaco is from the City of Brotherly Love. All in all, a big day for Philly.

Last night, Brett Favre's streak of 297 consecutive starts came to an end. Jimmy Traina, who is not the biggest Favre fan, tweeted out that nobody but the media care about an NFL consecutive games streak. An angry work colleague responded by saying that Traina is nuts and the streak is newsworthy. I'll let you settle it.

The Favre Streak

A happy belated birthday to Jets coach Rex Ryan, who turned 48 yesterday. Don't expect any presents from defensive end Shaun Ellis, who is peeved at Ryan for criticizing the defense's performance against the Dolphins. Also, don't expect anything from strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi, who was suspended for the season by the team. Now let's go get a snack!!

Not That Happy A Birthday

Despite reports to the contrary, Hot Clicks is happy to announce that Earl Weaver is not dead. And if you're not familiar with Weaver, watch this fantastic video of him cursing out umpire Bill Haller. (Warning: Weaver curses in video.)

Looks like Tiger Woods will be spending Christmas by himself as ex-wife Elin Nordegren is taking the kids back to her native Sweden for the holidays. Don't feel too bad for Tiger -- he has a new $80 million mansion to keep him company.

A Very Lonely Christmas

The quiz show will host its first man vs. machine game as former champions Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter will compete against a computing system named "Watson," built by a team of IBM scientists. The episodes will air in February.
