Reid can't count on these Eagles
Andy Reid's Eagles have seen their share of highs and lows -- some in the same game, as was the case against the Giants -- this season, and he's not always sure what he's get when they take the field. "I know we've got a good team, but I also know that I haven't been through this with them. There are a lot of new pieces here and I haven't been through a playoff experience with them." Reid has never had a younger team make the postseason than this one. He has never had a more dynamic quarterback than Michael Vick. He has never had a playoff defense that allowed this many points and passing touchdowns. Mix all of that together and the Eagles are a mysterious, singular stew. (Philadelphia Daily News)Comment
Flyers edge Wild as Winter Classic hosts
According to a report, Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field has the inside track on landing the 2012 Winter Classic. The NHL "prefers the NFL stadium model compared to the baseball stadium because there's more seating (and) better line sights." The Colorado Avalanche also are "interested and have a shot" at hosting the game. The Minnesota Wild repeatedly have expressed their desire to host the game, but the league does not "see the Wild as a very sexy team to have in the game." (The Patriot-News)Comment
Perkins: Healthy Celtics can't be beat
Despite what could have been a calamitous parade of players to the bench due to injury -- and one, Kendrick Perkins, who hasn't yet hit the lineup -- the Celtics have somehow managed to cling to the Eastern Conference's best record. [This] is why Perkins believes they will win this season's championship if they're all healthy for the playoffs. "In seven games I don't think we can be beat by any team," he said. "Too deep.
