Though Bills GM Buddy Nix remains a fan of Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Bills have reportedly talked about selecting Cam Newton. [Nix] has acknowledged the need to add a quarterback in the draft, although we know owner Ralph Wilson has said the team won't reach for a quarterback that isn't worthy of being selected at No. 3 overall. ... "I'm not so sure that the Bills are thinking their quarterback position is settled," [Vic] Carucci told fans [in a chat session]. "From everything I hear, GM Buddy Nix likes Newton a great deal, and the Bills might very well be inclined to take him in the No. 3 slot. Now, they also might be of the opinion they could wait to take him in the second round, and that might very well happen, too." (NFL.com)Comment
Might Michael Young be taking his talents to South Beach? The Marlins are interested in Young, who recently asked to be traded, major league sources say. One source with knowledge of the talks, however, describes the possibility as "a real reach." For a deal to occur, the Rangers would need to assume the vast majority of the remaining $48 million on the final three years of Young's contract. Young also would need to waive his partial no-trade clause for the Marlins, who are not one of the eight teams that can obtain him without his approval. ... [The Marlins] routinely aim high in trade discussions, and soon will grow more attractive for players seeking new homes. They are scheduled to move into a new ballpark in downtown Miami in 2012. When questions were presented to the 7-foot center about the Lakers' porous defense and about losing to the Charlotte Bobcats for the eighth time in the last 10 meetings, Bynum offered a slew of complaints. He complained about his lack of playing time, his lack of touches and the Lakers' lack of effort. ... "You know how ya'll normally ask, 'Can you take anything out of this?' No, we can't take anything out of this one. This was a [butt] kicking." (L.A. Times)Comment
