Tim Tebow spent his Easter in Atlanta, where for one of the few times this offseason he will take a day off from practicing and working out. [Tebow] does "truly believe" he is ready to become the Broncos' full-time starting quarterback this year. "I'm looking forward to the competition to prove that I can do that," he said in a phone interview. ... Q: John Elway has said you are raw as a quarterback and must become a better pocket passer. What's your response? A: I haven't taken a snap in the offseason from the shotgun. It's all been under center, 5 and 7 (yard) drops and passes from the pocket. Kobe leaves on crutches, insists he'll return
Stumbling while trying to guard Willie Green may lead to an injury the Lakers can ill afford. Kobe Bryant walked out of New Orleans Arena on crutches with a swollen left foot, but the Lakers guard is hopeful he'll play in Game 5 on Tuesday in Los Angeles. ... Bryant said he would get medical treatment the entire flight and was concerned of more swelling on the lengthy ride. "I should play," Bryant said, while sitting on a training table in the visiting locker room. "It's going to take a lot to stop me from playing." Bryant played in all 82 games in the regular season and entered the playoffs feeling healthy. After going scoreless in the first half Sunday, he finished Game 4 with 17 points (on 5-of-18 shooting from the field), eight assists and six rebounds in 36 minutes. (Yahoo Sports)Comment
Pujols' status TBD after being pulled Sunday
While April is a little early to judge from extrapolated projections, it's never too early to worry about the health of Albert Pujols. The Cardinals first baseman came out of Sunday night's 3-0 win over the Reds after feeling tightness in his left hamstring while running out a grounder in the seventh inning. The Cardinals removed him from the game as a precaution, but it's too soon to say what the long- or short-term situation is. After the game, Pujols said he felt sore but that initial tests on the hamstring were encouraging. Still, he allowed that it's a good thing the Cardinals are off today before starting a three-game series at Houston on Tuesday. "I think it all depends on how I wake up [Monday]," Pujols said.
