With third baseman Pablo Sandoval on the shelf for an estimated seven weeks in the wake of his Tuesday surgery to remove a fractured portion of the hamate bone in his right hand, struggling Miguel Tejada -- he was signed to a one-year deal this offseason to play shortstop but has been nearly as bad in the field (five errors) as he's been at the plate (.227 through Monday) -- has been shifted to the hot corner because utilityman Mark DeRosa, expected to serve as Sandoval's primary backup this season, also is on the DL with a wrist issue. D-Will mulling playing overseas
It's never too early to think about one's future. Although the NBA's current collective bargaining agreement expires in nearly two months -- July 1, to be exact -- Nets point guard Deron Williams is already considering taking his talents abroad. "I'm already looking into playing overseas," said Williams, who was in Santa Monica, Calif., Tuesday taking part in an event featuring his favorite video game series, Call of Duty. "I haven't looked anywhere in general; I'm just looking into the possibility of playing over there. But I'm not going to make a decision until after the CBA." ... In the meantime, Williams said he doesn't have a gauge on what other players are planning to do if there is a lockout. The idea of going overseas was his own. But one place you probably won't find him in is Greece. "The economy is not too good in Greece right now," Williams said. (espn.com)Comment
Bulger as Dolphins No. 1 target?
While the Dolphins reportedly had Carson Palmer as their No. 1 quarterback target, they may have to set their on a player such as Marc Bulger. Some people believe that year off served as a rehab of sorts for Bulger -- a time to heal and find himself again. He will be on the market. ... I believe if the Dolphins cannot get Palmer, Bulger will be their second target. Not anything anyone has whispered to me. Speculation. But it is logical. The Dolphins can sign Bulger for a year or two and offer him a chance to win a starting job. If he beats out Henne, so be it. If he doesn't, he sits.
