Morning Jolt: Isiah headed back to NBA?

Monday, June 6

Today's must-see content delivered straight to you.

Isiah to coach the Pistons?

The Pistons are turning to a coaching search that reportedly includes Mike Woodson, Kelvin Sampson, Bill Laimbeer, some of the usual suspects ... and one not so usual suspect. Isiah Thomas also could have a formal chat with [Joe Dumars]. The former backcourt mates speak regularly, and during Thomas' last visit to The Palace, during Dennis Rodman's jersey retirement, he was in Dumars' suite. Thomas' issues have been well-documented during his time in New York, although it should be noted the Knicks were a mess well before he set foot in Madison Square Garden. Thomas does have experience in developing young players during his time as an executive in Toronto and as head coach in Indiana. While Thomas' interest level isn't known, he still feels a strong emotional bond with the team and the city of Detroit. (Detroit News)Comment

Plaxico may be headed to St. Louis

A fair amount has been written about the possibility of Sam Bradford talking to his future offensive coordinator's brother, Ben McDaniels, though little ink has been spilled about possible new targets for the second-year QB. Even though the Rams' roster is suddenly flooded with receivers, we hear there could still be a passing interest in landing Plaxico Burress, who has been out of commission since shooting himself in the leg in November 2008. Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo remembers Burress quite well from their days together with the Giants. (Pro Football Weekly)Comment

Hershiser in talks to buy Dodgers

Orel Hershiser, who lives in Las Vegas, may be willing to place his bets on the Dodgers. [Steve Garvey] has worked to assemble a team of people with the wish of purchasing the Dodgers if the team goes on sale, and Garvey added Hershiser to his team, which is now called the Garvey-Hershiser Group. Major League Baseball already has seized the Dodgers and is running the day-to-day business operations of the club. The team could go on sale if team owner Frank McCourt is unable to make the next payroll, but he's made the past two payrolls under a cloud of uncertainty. Hershiser, the popular former Dodger and 1988 World Series MVP, would give Garvey's group instant name recognition and baseball experience from on and off the field and inside the television booth.
