Matt McLaughlin, of Lee's Summit, Mo., says, "Long-time reader, first time submitter. Anyway, my sister works in marketing for a company in Davenport, Iowa, and got this press release from the Quad City River Bandits, the Cardinals' Class A team. They are having a 'Circle of Life' promotional series this summer, first giving away baby supplies, then one year of tuition to the University of Iowa, and then ... a free funeral. My sister thinks they are taking things too far. I think it's brilliant, especially with the cost of funerals these days. Here is the release."

Friday at Modern Woodmen Park means one BIG thing - Lujack's Friday Fireworks after the game! What better way to kick-start your weekend and the homestand than with fireworks after a fun-filled evening at Modern Woodmen Park as the Bandits take on the Great Lake Loons (Los Angeles Dodgers).

And if you're an expecting or a new mother, you definitely won't want to miss Friday's game. We kick off our "Circle of Life" promotional series by honoring new-borns with our annual Maternity Night. One lucky mother will walk away with an incredible newborn prize pack complete with the new-born trifecta: a brand new stroller, a crib, and car seat -- and much MUCH MORE!

Don't miss the other great "Circle of Life" promotional nights, including the Bandit Wedding giveaway on Friday, June 17, and the Bandit Scholarship giveaway (the Keith Lucier Memorial Scholarship) when one lucky student wins a full year's tuition courtesy of the River Bandits at the University of Iowa on Sunday, June 19. We conclude the Circle of Life promotional series in August, when we give away a free funeral! You won't want to miss it! From cradle to grave, the River Bandits have you covered!

Kick off your weekend with a blast and the Bandits! Get your tickets here!

We haven't heard much from Kobe Bryant since the Lakers were swept by the Mavericks. He's even been silent about the hiring of Mike Brown as coach and the retirement of his "good friend" Shaquille O'Neal. However, Kobe made an appearance Monday night at a Sony PlayStation event for NBA2K12. He demo'd the new game, did some trash talking and did a hard sell of the game.
