Harper may be on verge of promotion
Before playing in his current league's midseason classic, Bryce Harper talked about his future. Amid speculation that Harper could soon be promoted, the Nationals continue to give no indication what his immediate future holds. For now, he remains a resident of Hagerstown, where he maintains an apartment. But he sounded almost wistful as he spoke today about his Hagerstown experience, saying, "It's been a lot of fun. I wouldn't take anything back. I had a great team, a great club. ... I had a great manager who made it fun." Asked directly about the promotion rumors, he said, "I'll let the higher powers figure that one out. ... I'll do whatever they want me to -- Potomac, Double-A, Triple-A, big leagues, whatever they want me to do." (The Washington Post)Comment
The Bucks, looking to move back from No. 10, and Rockets, looking to move up from Nos. 23 and 24, are ideal trade partners. But it appears discussions between the Bucks and Rockets involve more than just exchanging picks. The scuttlebutt is both teams are receptive to swapping players as well. The teams have tossed around different trade scenarios with Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova being prominently mentioned. ... It's hardly a secret the Bucks would be interested in Rockets forward Patrick Patterson, whom the Bucks were hoping to land in last summer's draft. Ravens' Reed still not fully healed
In New Orleans for an annual football camp, Ed Reed said Tuesday he's still not fully healthy. The perennial Pro Bowler underwent hip surgery before the 2010 season and has suffered from lingering neck problems that have forced him to miss 10 games over the last two seasons. "I'm still not 100 percent (healthy)," Reed said. "But I'm 100 percent mentally at this point as far as everything I can do. I know my limitations. I still have a lot of work to do before the season starts." Reed began the 2010 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but returned in week 7 and recorded 37 tackles and eight interceptions in 10 games (The Times-Picayune)Comment
