Yankees not on K-Rod's no-trade list
While we now know Scott Boras is representing Francisco Rodriguez, many are still wondering where he may end up, or in what role. "I don't think any team is going to be having Frankie Rodriguez serve as a setup man," Boras said. "Frankie Rodriguez is a closer. He will be a closer. He's a closer and that's what he does." The extent to which that view impacts the Mets' flexibility depends entirely on which teams are on K-Rod's no-trade list. He can veto a trade to any of 10 teams he selected when he signed with the Mets in December 2008. The identity of those teams has not been publicly disclosed. Artest looking at as many as eight countries
If comedy doesn't work out, Ron Artest always has basketball. It's been less than two weeks since the NBA lockout went into place and the Los Angeles Lakers forward has already been linked to two different European destinations. And already, both basketball locales -- Finland and England -- have been debunked by Artest's agent, David Bauman. ... While the competition available to Artest in Finland and England "aren't serious leagues" according to Bauman, his client is considering other options overseas. "England is probably the 10th or 12th best league in Europe," Bauman said. "That isn't going to make sense. If we do Europe, it's going to be Israel, Russia, Greece, Turkey, Italy or maybe France. ... When we spoke about the lockout, Ron said, 'Find me the best teams.'" (ESPNLosAngeles.com)Comment
The Packers managed to finish 2010 just fine, even though they lost Ryan Grant to injury after one game. Green Bay obviously weathered his loss without much problem, especially given rookie RB James Starks' playoff emergence. Still, Grant, who rushed for 2,456 yards from 2008-09, thinks he'll move back atop the depth chart when the lockout ends. "From what I've heard, that's the conversation that was told to me," Grant told WSSP in Milwaukee. "I was told that by (former RBs coach Edgar Bennett), initially. Jerry (Fontenot, who took over for Bennett) didn't tell me that anything changed. Jerry told me that as of right now I'm still the leader of the backfield." ...
