Reggie Bush's extra motivation
Reggie Bush acknowledges the fresh chip squarely affixed upon his shoulder. To facilitate the trade [to Miami], he signed a two-year, $10 million contract that replaced the $11.8 million he was due in 2011 as part of his original pact. And it perturbs him that despite his impact in the passing game -- his 294 receptions in five seasons is more than any NFL back during that span -- he hasn't made a mark as a complete running back. "I have some extra motivation to do what the doubters don't think I can do," said Bush, who has averaged just 8.7 rushes in 60 NFL games. "That was one of the reasons I came here -- to have a leadership role and an immediate impact as an explosive player. I'll get a chance to show more of what I can do." (USA Today)Comment
T-wolves job is Adelman's if he wants it
Rick Adelman heard the pitch Tuesday. [Adelman] was in town today to interview for the Timberwolves coaching job and as of late [Tuesday] afternoon, I heard he was already on a plane out of town -- presumably home to Portland -- without an offer yet being made. He met with president of basketball operations David Kahn, owner Glen Taylor, CEO Rob Moor and probably minority partners and other personnel as well. The Wolves brass worked for weeks to get Adelman to come in for more than a phone interview. If he wants the job and they can agree on a salary, the job is probably his. That salary would probably approach $5 million per year. The four-year contract he signed with Houston in 2007 was worth a bit more than $16 million. (Star-Tribune)Comment
Stephen Strasburg offered an honest assessment of his current flaws recently, which include being too amped up. However, Strasburg's candor cuts both ways. If you want a bit of a chill down the baseball portion of your spine, this is the money sound bite from Strasburg's own mouth after fanning six Hickory Crawdads in three innings. "The curveball is still not where it was," he said. "All my other pitches are better than they were before, so I'm sure that will be the same." Better. If Strasburg is exaggerating, especially about himself, it's the first time. ... "His tempo is a little off.
